Does internet use help to improve the subjective well⁃being of the rural

elderly

——Analysis based on CFPS tracking survey data

Abstract：This study explored the impact mechanism of internet use on the subjective well⁃being of the
rural elderly based on data analysis of three rounds of CFPS longitudinal surveys in 2016，2018，and 2020.
Studies have shown that using the Internet significantly improves the subjective well⁃being score of the rural
elderly. Specifically， internet use notably increased their self ⁃ rated physical health and obtained
intergenerational support，thereby increasing the overall level of subjective well⁃being. However，the number of
the rural elderly who can fully enjoy this technological dividend is not significant. Therefore，it is urgent to
strengthen efforts to promote digital rural construction，solve the problem of information poverty，and reshape
the Internet cultural environment.
