Study on coupling coordination and spatial characteristics of the joint
reforms of medical services，medical insurance and pharmaceutical in

China

Abstract：To explore the level of China’s coordinated development and governance of Medical Insurance，
Medical Services and Pharmaceuticals，and further investigate its spatial characteristics，this study constructs a
comprehensive evaluation index and a coupling coordination degree model using the entropy weight method，

and carries out the spatial autocorrelation analysis on this basis. The results show that the average value of the
comprehensive development index of the three systems from 2018 to 2022 has always followed the pattern of
“medical services > medical insurance > pharmaceuticals”. Overall，the level of the three medical linkage
showed a steady upward trend with the coupling coordination degree has developed from“nearing imbalance”to
“barely coordinated”. However，the regional development remains unbalanced，showing a stepwise distribution
pattern of“high in the east and low in the west”，with an obvious spatial agglomeration phenomenon and a
positive spatial spillover effect. This study recommends strengthening talent support and innovation
empowerment，establishing a cross ⁃ regional and cross ⁃ departmental collaborative governance mechanism，
emphasizing the exemplary and leading role of the developed eastern regions，and promoting the coordinated
development of China’s Joint Reform of Medical Insurance，Medical Services and Pharmaceuticals.
