                   Abstract:This study conducted in⁃depth semi⁃structured interviews with 16 groups of community⁃dwelling
hypertensive patients with different demographic characteristics and their caregivers or cohabitants. This study
aimed to identify the influencing factors of dietary choices among community⁃dwelling hypertensive patients,

and to provide an in⁃depth analysis of the decision⁃making process of their dietary selection, thereby providing
a basis for guiding and improving their dietary behaviors. Following the interpretative phenomenological analysis
               principles,this study identified four core categories: self⁃efficacy,family dynamics,social support,and socio⁃
cultural⁃economic factors. The results indicated that under the combined influence of multiple factors, such as
health literacy and physical and mental status, patients’preference for food attributes was the most direct and
critical influencing factor in their dietary selection process. In contrast, professional guidance and inter ⁃
generational support provided external intervention on patients’dietary choices at the community and family
levels, respectively. Based on the influencing mechanisms, this study identified effective dietary intervention
strategies for dietary choices, offering a reference for chronic disease management in community settings.
